This one day course is a practical, hands-on training in how to facilitate an Action Learning Set.

Action Learning is a process that involves a small group working on real problems, taking action, and learning as individuals, as a team, and as a whole. It is a structured, practical method of working that enables small groups to address complicated issues by meeting regularly and working collectively. It can help foster the discipline we often need to help us learn from what we do, and improve our practice. Both our peers and the group facilitator help us develop creative, flexible and successful strategies – using the group’s collective intelligence & creativity to find solutions we may not have come up with alone.

Facilitators:

Neil Oliver is Chair of The Board of Directors at Edventure. He is a Certified Professional Facilitator and an Associate with the Institute of Cultural Affairs, Much of Neil’s current work is split between Edventure and providing program design and consultancy to Initiatives of Change an international trust and reconciliation foundation whose vision is “a just, peaceful and sustainable world to which everyone, responding to the call of conscience, makes their unique contribution.”

Neil’s group work training was with the Family Planning Association. Through Oliver Barclay partnership he has developed a focus on effective communication within groups. He has also worked as a consultant for SOLACE and holds an MA in Public and Social Administration.
