January Launch… New home for Edventure Frome!

[slideshow_deploy id=1028]
Our winter break ended on January 7th. We came back together with stories of far too much food & drink over Christmas, and new reflections, goals and ideas. We are ready for 2013…

Most exciting is our new home, the Round Tower in the Town Centre! The Round Tower is our office, meeting & event space. Tem, Joe & Harry, with the support from the rest of the team, have taken it on as an assignment to run the space, and transform it into a financially sustainable youth and community space. We are also renting the space out to other groups occasionally. Be in touch if you are looking to run events or workshops (info@edventurefrome.org). Camilla & Harry have also found a new ‘make-space’, a multi-purpose workshop for crafts & arts that the Edventure Team can use.

Since we launched we’ve also had some amazing contributors from the local community.

  • Alison Barclay and Neil Oliver run a facilitation training. Our favorite top advice was: Shit & get off the pot!
  • Luke Wild, founder of TwentyFifty talked about his work in bringing business & human rights together. One of our favorite quotes were: “Human Rights come to life in small places close to home”.
  • Sheila Gore, who runs the Heath Food Store in Frome, and is behind and involved with many other projects locally, such as Frome Independents Day and Home in Frome, joined us to talk about running a small ethical business in Frome.

Next time: read updates about how our personal businesses, projects and livelihoods are getting on.
