This project is about action, not overwhelm. It gives young people space to shape change on their terms — to imagine, organise, and make things happen. Our aim is to:
- Offer real-life opportunities to learn, collaborate and gain volunteer experience
- Centre young voices and ideas in Frome’s climate conversation
- Spark positive momentum and hope-led action
- Enable peer-to-peer learning and engagement
- Strengthen intergenerational connections and shared learning
- Build on the energy already alive in Frome’s schools and youth groups
- Create a structure that supports long-term youth participation
The benefits ripple out — not just for the environment, but for health, confidence, community connection and a sense of purpose.
Who is it for?
The project is for young people aged 12–18 who live in or around Frome — including those in school, home education, or youth organisations. Whether someone’s passionate about the climate, curious to try something new, interested in campaigning, creativity, growing, making, or helping others — they’re welcome.
This is also for educators and youth group leaders who want to support young people in developing their own climate responses and leadership.
How can I get involved?
Initially, we’re looking to form a core group of Youth Climate Action Allies. They’ll meet regularly outside school hours, decide together how to use a dedicated activity fund, and shape ways to bring other young people along. It could look like workshops, campaigns, creative projects, trips or climate meetups — it’s up to the group.
Young people don’t need experience — just an interest in climate action and a willingness to take part.
