How? By exploring ways we can help local people to live lives which are good for their health and the planet – if we improve one, we’ll also improve the other, enabling everyone to share in a better future.
Green & Healthy Frome is a unique partnership of Edventure Frome, Frome Medical Practice and Frome Town Council. Green & Healthy Frome is funded by The National Lottery’s Climate Action Fund. We’re working together on this community-led initiative to ensure there are many ways to live greener and healthier lives in Frome.
How our parnership works
Edventure
Edventure Frome CIC is the coordinating partnership for the Green & Healthy Frome programme. Through our Future Shed programme, Edventure offers practical support to get green and healthy initiatives and enterprises off the ground through building networks, connecting people and start-up coaching.
Frome Medical Practice
Frome Medical Practice lead on the Green Community Connector programme and the Choosing Wisely campaign. Frome Medical Practice employ a Green Health Connector to coordinate & train Green Community Connectors, indiviudals who after completing a short training session, help local people connect to green health opportunities across Frome. The ‘Choosing Wisely’ campaign promotes informed, green choices regarding prescriptions, encouraging healthy lifestyles and reducing unnecessary medication.
Frome Town Council
Frome Town Council leads the Healthy Homes and Cycle Together projects, providing residents with energy efficiency improvements for their homes and the chance to try an electric bike for a month. Healthy Homes supports those at risk of cold homes and facilitates the installation of energy-efficient measures through grant schemes and low-interest loans. Cycle Together in Frome offers the opportunity to start cycling for fitness, leisure, or as a cost-effective and reliable commuting option. Participants borrow an ebike for four weeks and join guided group rides for up to six hours during the hire period.
